-Só unha minoría dos nacidos sobreviven na natureza , así o número de individuos dunha poboación mantense constante.
-En todas as poboacións hai individuos con pequenas diferenzas hereditarias.
-Sobreviven os que teñen as características mais adaptadas ou mais aptas para o medio no que viven.
-Os individuos con peculiaridades na súa constitución estarán mellor adaptados a certo tipo de medios.
-Os organismos que consiguen sobrevivir debido á súa mellor adapatación transmiten as súas características aos seus descendentes.
